I made the NYTimes version of the recipe with 3 cups of flour and it turned out wonderfully. I can't honestly imagine it with another cup of flour, as the batter was very thick with just three cups. Thank you for the delicious recipe!

I agree. Julia's potato galette is very simple to make and is always a pleaser. The Way to Cook is one of my all-time favorite cookbooks.

I've made this potato galette since I received The Way to Cook as a Christmas gift shortly after it was published. It works so beautifully and is so easy, I've never used another method. I'm glad to see it in circulation on the interwebs!

Thank you for stopping by, Jenni. I hope you find some things that help with the dinner hour. It's hard sometimes!

So nice to discover your blog! I love the concept. And thank you for the "three bowls" idea. I, too, put a green salad and fruit on the table but never thought of including crudites on a nightly basis. The perfect solution since lately my kids are pickier eaters. Happy cooking!

Thank you for pointing out the discrepancy, Phyllis. Field Day Pound Cake is made with 4 cups cake flour. Let me know how it turns out if you make it.

NY Times has your recipe listed with 3 cups of cake flour, but you have it listed as 4 cups. Did the Times make a mistake??

Pralines: Try parchment paper next time, and a metal pan underneath. Or get a \sil-pat\ silicone sheet. You are probably melting the wax with the hot pralines.
